United Leadership Drives Successful Change

Our Client: Large Government Agency operating across a diverse geographical region

A brief case study highlights how Think One Team partnered with a large Government Agency to unite the senior Leadership Cohort and equip them to navigate complex adaptive challenges, including substantial budget cuts and community activism.

The Context and Need

Our client is a large Government Agency providing the full range of policy development, community partnering and service delivery across a diverse region facing challenging economic conditions.

The Chief Executive engaged Think One Team at a time of pending budget cuts and shifting political and community expectations to partner with the Executive and Senior Leadership Group (35 leaders) to establish the agile collaborative ways of working needed to navigate a redesign and implementation of a new business operating model.

Key Steps in The Intervention

Accelerated Executive Team Development - a six month accelerated United Leadership program for the Executive Team to prepare to lead the change

Shared Ways of Working - engaged the full Leadership Cohort in a program which upskilled and applied core One Team Agile models and tools to the challenges of engaging the workforce and leading a range of complex changes in structure, roles, and delivery models

One Team Operating Rhythm - established a 30 day / 90 day operating rhythm during which One Team approaches to performance partnering, forming and empowering teams, engaging with stakeholders and collaborative problem solving were used to tackle business issues

Measure for Learning Agility - deployed the Human Synergistics LSI and Think One Team United Leadership 360 Index to boost awareness and measure progress

Transfer Capability - in partnership with in-house HR/L&D, all Managers and Team Leaders were coached in the required skills and tools to bring the 'One Team Agile' approach into their teams thereby maintaining consistency

Key Impacts

The Program delivered on the change objectives, specifically the successful establishment of new governance and operating models. There was a significant and sustainable improvement in leadership behaviours / culture as assessed by the Human Synergistics and Think One Team United Leader 360 inventories (across two retests in an 18 month period).
